Kyle has been around the game of basketball his whole life. He went to Newark Community High School where he was a four year varsity starter and the leading scorer every year. At Newark he was first team all state his junior and senior year. He helped lead Newark to three straight sectional championships and a state championship his senior year going 33-1. As a senior he was a McDonald's All-American nominee. He totaled 100 victories for his varsity career and left the school as the all time leading scorer with 2280 points.
Kyle received multiple Division I scholarship offers and ultimately ended up going to the University of Delaware. At Delaware, Kyle was a four year starter. As a senior he was selected as both team captain and, eventually, All-Conference. He was academic All-Conference for three years. As a junior, the Delaware Blue Hens won their conference championship and played in the NCAA Tournament against Michigan State. He left Delaware as the 13th leading scorer in school history with 1292 points and holds the record for most three pointers made in a game and most three pointers made in a career with 269.
